Sarajevo Challenge 1: How to improve the availability of assistive technologies for people with disabilities?

Approximately 10% of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s population lives with disabilities, encompassing various impairments. This significantly impacts not only individuals with disabilities but also their families and caregivers, affecting nearly 30% of the total population. Furthermore, limited access to assistive technologies significantly impacts individuals with disabilities across education, employment, health, and overall well-being, with broader societal implications.

Therefore, City of Sarajevo aims at improving the accessibility and availability of assistive technology by innovative technologies. For these solutions it is imperative to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals, including those with disabilities. Addressing this challenge involves ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between demand and accessibility, promoting inclusivity and enhancing the overall quality of life within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such initiatives are essential not only for meeting immediate needs but also for fostering a more equitable and supportive societal framework in the long term.

Stol association, Association Sumero and association ProReha will host up to three pilots.
