Sarajevo

Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, lies between the Dinaric Alps, 600 meters above sea level and is crossed by the small Miljacka river which divides the city into two parts. Sarajevo has always been a crossroads of cultures and is also often described as the city of the four religions, where East and West meet. Post-war reconstruction led to strong growth in the city. Sarajevo is innovating by leveraging its rich cultural heritage and strategic location as a crossroads of cultures to drive growth in various sectors. The city, recognized as a UNESCO Creative City, has integrated cultural creativity into its development strategies, fostering a vibrant scene of festivals, creative industries, and cultural preservation projects. The tech and startup ecosystem is rapidly expanding, supported by innovation hubs and a strong focus on education and research. Sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives are enhancing urban living, while social innovation and community-driven projects address post-war challenges and promote social cohesion.
