Plock is in the northwest of Warsaw and is one of the oldest cities in Poland. Its location on the Vistula River makes it a very pleasant city. The city center or Old Town is being transformed into a pedestrian area and extends as far as the Stary Rynek (Old Market), which today is the square where the Town Hall is located. The oil industry is by far predominant in PĹ‚ock, as one of the largest and most modern refineries in Europe is located here. Various petrochemical units of various international companies have sprung up next to the refinery. It is also home to an important textile factory. The city is innovating through significant upgrades in its energy infrastructure, including modernizing its oil refinery and CHP plant, embracing solar energy projects, and expanding its chemical industry
